Me: “Ava, stop yelling at your brother!…..Mason, stop pulling your sister’s headband off!…Shhhh!…..Yes, you can have a snack……No, you can’t have that…..Yes, yes FINE!! I give in!!….Ugh, when does school start!?”
Oh, wait! TOMORROW!!?? SCHOOL STARTS TOMORROW???!!! If you are like me and living in Eastern Ontario, your kids are likely going back to school tomorrow. Hard to believe that the start of another school year is here already. Seems like just yesterday I was sending my lil Ava Lou off to her last day of junior kindergarten and looking forward to having her home for a couple months!
Now, I am not saying that I don’t LOVE my daughter very very much, but I am ready for her to go back to school! At first it was really nice having her back home: not having to wake up at a certain time, not having to wake HER up in the morning, no lunches to pack, no school asking for more money what seemed like every week for this and that, not having to be back home by a certain time for buses etc. But now I am ready to go back to the routine that I had gotten into with her being in school. I didn’t really realize how much till last week she went for a little playdate. It might sound selfish, but I enjoyed the time that my son napped, and I had all to myself during the day. I got so much done without interruption!
My daughter is excited to be going back as well to see her little friends again. She has seen some of her friends over the summer, but I think she is looking forward to playing with kids her own age versus only having her 17 month old brother to play with day in/day out. Although he is going to miss her something terrible I foresee! She is the first person he looks for when he wakes up in the morning, so I think it will take some getting used to on his part as well!
So tomorrow morning I will get up, make a special little breakfast and go in to wake my daughter up…and send her off to school again in that big yellow bus! This year I am sure there will be no tears like there was last year – but maybe there will, but who knows really!? I am sure in a couple weeks I will miss my little dolly, and be looking forward to the weekends and days off. But for now, I am happy school is back in session tomorrow!
How about you!? If you have kids going back to school tomorrow, what are your feelings about them going back? How does them going back to school hinder or help your daily routine!?
