Today I got a call from a life long friend. It was out of the blue, but at a time when I really needed her. We don’t talk on the phone a lot, e-mail much, text or Skype, so when I heard her voice I crumbled. I felt like we had months of catching up to do in one short call. It made me realize that I can take friendships for granted at times. Its easy to get caught up in all that’s going on around us. We have our kids, our partners, our jobs, and our to-do lists, we all seem to be at a busy stage in our lives. I have some friends that I don’t talk to much. When we see each other we catch up, and months go by before we catch up again. Just because we don’t live close or talk often, doesn’t mean we don’t need each other in our lives. I needed to take more of an initiative to stay in touch. Because no matter what is going on in our lives, there isn’t anything better than catching up with a good friend.
So the point of today’s blog, is pick up the phone, call that friend that you keep putting off calling. Send an “I am thinking about you” e-mail, or a “Hope you are having a great day” text. You never know you might just make that call at a time when they need you most. If anything you can catch up, laugh a lot, and share stories of teething, daycare, and work. Its nice to know that regardless how long its been or how busy you are, you are still there for each other no matter what.
Do you talk to your friends on the phone or e-mail often? What do you like to do to catch up after not seeing a friend for awhile?
