The fall season brings cooler weather, colourful leaves, pumpkins, and a new season of our favourite TV shows. I can honestly say I’m a TV junkie…..I always have to have the TV on even if I’m not really paying attention to what is on, it is the background noise that I need. As silly as it sounds I really look forward to the season premieres of my favourite shows, and this year one of them is emabarking on their farewell season. ‘The Office’ is one of those shows that I can watch over & over in reruns, and often repeat to myself the famous ‘that’s what she said’ line when appropriate….which in my world happens a lot! I’m sad that the show will be ending after this season, but I also know that all good things have to come to an end, and I am so interested in how they are going to wrap up the show.
So if you are a fan of the show, and didn’t see the premiere yet then you should stop reading this post now so I don’t ruin it for you
I’m going to focus on the Jim & Pam story of this episode as I’m sure it is something that we all experience at some point in our lives. They start the season off with everyone recapping what they did for the summer – Jim & Pam are interviewed together saying that nothing exciting happened for them over the summer, but then Jim remembers that Pam painted this amazing mural on the kids’ walls, and how Jim’s friend is pursuing a business idea Jim had back in college. He asked Jim to partner with him, but since it meant that they would have to move to Philadelphia from Scranton, PA it isn’t something they could do since it wouldn’t make sense….their life is there in Scranton. Pam mentions now that they have settled down with 2 kids and a home, their adventurous days are behind them. Throughout the episode you keep getting the feeling that Pam is ok with this new life however it sometimes feels like she is trying to convince herself of this. Jim on the other hand, becomes more and more bothered that he may have missed out on other career opportunities by staying in his comfort zone, Dunder Mifflin. The episode ends with him telling Pam he has one more phone call to make before leaving for the day and will meet her downstairs. After a few attempts, Jim finally completes the phone call and asks his friend if he found a partner for the business; Jim then says that he is in!
The episode had a more serious feel however it makes sense as they are trying to set up a lot of storylines to wrap up the series. My Husband Curtis and I enjoyed the episode, and were happy overall with the potential of how this final season will play out.
Did you like how the Farewell Season started off? Can you relate to Jim & Pam’s situation and if so how have you dealt with that feeling?
