Ottawa Children’s Gala

We are so excited to be sharing this event with you on our website.  The Ottawa Children’s Gala is not just something that is happening in the city, it is something that is directly benefiting your children and my children if and when they use the services at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario.  We OVMs have been to CHEO a few times with our children and although it is not somewhere we want to be, we have been more than thrilled with the level of service and level of care we’ve received.  In fact, two of the OVMs, Erin and Crystal, also contribute a regular blog post as part of the CHEO Moms & Dads Blogger program.

What is the Ottawa Children’s Gala?

The Ottawa Children’s Gala is the only one of its kind in Ottawa: a formal gala filled with entertainment for both children and adults all in the beautiful setting of Hampton Inn Ottawa and Conference Centre’s Grand Ballroom. We will have a red carpet complete with a professional photographer, a classy meal, exciting entertainment and, of course, a dance. Lianne Laing of Ottawa’s CTV Morning Show will host our gala and will be joined on stage by several VIP local celebrities. The Ottawa Children’s Gala will be a night to remember for the families in attendance!

The 2013 Ottawa Children’s Gala is being held in support of a program called ‘Plan-It Safe’ of CHEO. Corrine Langill and her team are dedicated to eliminating preventable childhood injuries in our city. Their mission is to increase local capacity, strengthen public policy, ensure effective programming and advocate for the creation of safe environments to reduce the toll injuries take on children and youth in our communities. The Centre works in collaboration with many of the community partners who deliver injury prevention programming. It’s core competencies are injury surveillance, research and program evaluation, consultation on program planning, implementation and evaluation, advocacy and professional and public education.

The Ottawa Children’s Gala will be held on February 16, 2013.  Doors Open at 4pm to enjoy the cocktail with ambient music from Kimberley Dunn. Walk down the red carpet to have your photo taken with your family, get your face painted and enjoy the evening with performances by ‘Orpheus’, Kimberley Dunn, Brothers Dube, Pulse N’Limited and many more acts. Your evening will be hosted by CTV Morning Show’s Lianne Laing.

This years theme is ‘Enchanted Forest’.

So, how can you get involved?

• Visit the website and buy your tickets for the 2013 Children’s Gala in February (they sell out every year so buy your tickets early!)
• Spread the word about the gala on your Facebook and Twitter accounts – the more people that know, the better!
