Ringing in a new year can be an exciting time. There is something revitalizing about the idea of starting fresh and having the opportunity to reinvent you. It is all too common to come up with resolutions for the new year that pertain to weight, food and exercise.
Although these are all admirable resolutions, and if they are truly important to you, then you should go for it! However, we often underestimate the impact our personal image has on our lives, our moods and confidence as well as how others perceive us. Our image lets people know a bit about whom you are and your personality.
Here are some ideas for New Year’s resolutions for your image:
-
Dress the body you have now, not the body you are striving for. I am all for setting goals to better yourself, including weight loss. It is understandable that you don’t want to invest money in clothes that may not fit in a few months. However, it is important to remember that when you are not wearing properly fitting clothing, you are doing yourself a disservice.
-
Always opt for a proper fit, regardless of the number! Look for pieces that simply skim your silhouette for the best fit.
-
Be more adventurous with color. Wear colors that you don’t normally wear. Start by choosing the “it” colors of the season. 2013’s color is emerald green.
-
Have fun with accessories. Jewelry is often overlooked when it comes to finishing off your outfit. Play with different pieces to express your mood and personality in a more subtle way than through clothing. You can be far bolder with your jewelry than you may have been with your clothing choices.
