Splashpad Fun!

Splashpad Fun!

I don’t know about where you are located, but here in the Ottawa Valley it has been super hot and humid with very little rain for relief! So one of the things that my friends and I have been taking full advantage of lately, are the local splash pads! We have been having our play dates there quite often, and it is a great way to spend some time while cooling off in the heat! The two that we have frequented the most are in Arnprior and Renfrew.

The splash pad in Arnprior is located at Robert Simpson Park, right along the river. It is right in the middle of a large park that is great for the kids. There is a play structure there that they can play on that is surrounded by sand. The property has gardens, a gazebo and numerous picnic tables and garbage’s. There are also washrooms there for use and a canteen selling ice cream and other treats for both kids & parents alike! The splash pad itself has about 5-6 water features, some coming up from the ground, some that dump down on you and spray sideways! Safe for younger children and fun still, for those who are older! A great location!

The splash pad in Renfrew is located at Mat-e-way Park on the outskirts of town. It is beside the recreation facility there, and surrounded by ball diamonds, a track, tennis courts, beach volleyball court and open fields to run around. There is a play structure located at the premises, but it is across the road from the actual splash pad. This splash pad has a large covered platform with picnic tables good for shade and enjoying some snacks. There are lots of fun water features here: a rainbow that sprinkles down, 2 water guns for some good soaking action, water that shoots up and ones you can run under! In total about 10 or so places to cool off and have fun!

We have spent some great mornings cooling off and enjoying our little ones running around! Both parks are FREE to use, so won’t break the bank in any way! Please check them out if you haven’t already, even if you have no children, it is sometimes fun to run through them like a kid again yourself! ;)
