“We stay awake and think of things…the happy things that summer brings!”

Although this is a children’s book, who in Canada doesn’t dream of the wonderful things that summer brings, especially since we don’t get to enjoy this weather all that long during the year!?

My step-mother brought Summer, the Dr. Seuss Bright and Early Board Book, back for my 16 month old son from her recent trip to Florida. I’ve always enjoyed reading these books to my kids, the catchy rhyming phrases and bright colours grabbing their attention! I had not seen this particular book up till now, and I have to say, I love it!

Summer, by Alice Low and Illustrated by Roy McKie, really get what summer is all about for kids (and some adults too!). The books stars a boy, a girl and their pup, enjoying all that summer has to offer! The food, the fun, the animals. They touch on everything from watermelon & ice cream eating, to fireworks, swimming, swinging, catching butterflies and making sand castles.

This is a great book for you to enjoy with your little ones. Being a board book, it is sturdy enough for little hands, and great for school age kids to practise reading the simple, yet fun, wording.

You can purchase Summer through  new, for $5.99 CDN.

A wonderful book to read all summer long….or to pull out in the snowy white Canadian winter to remind us that Summerwill come, yet again, and what we can look forward to!
